Our tribal hand carved coconut kalimbas are bowl shaped which generates increased resonance. The 7 metal tines can be tuned to create different types of sound. Kalimbas, or idiophones, have been a part of African culture for hundreds of years. They are played with the thumb and forefinger and look as good as they sound. This unique instrument is usually used as an accompaniment to song but may be used individually. They can also be used as a distinctive ornament for around the home.
